Abstract | |||
We are collaborating on a cohort study of Old Order Amish in a three county area surrounding Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Publicly available nitrate monitoring data for three counties in the study area will be used to estimate nitrate levels in groundwater supplies across the study area using Geographic Information System-based models. Estimated nitrate concentrations will be linked by residence location to an existing cohort of Old Order Amish. With our University of Maryland collaborators, we will evaluate the association between TSH measurements and TSH-defined thyroid disease (clinical and subclinial hypo- and hyperthyroidism) in relation to estimated nitrate levels in drinking water supplies. |
