This project is a nested case-control study of sexually transmitted infections as risk factors for incident (and prevalent for African Americans only) prostate cancer in the PLCO Trial. Sera from cases and controls are being tested for antibodies to 6 infections: Chlamydia trachomatis, human papillomavirus, herpes simplex type 2, cytomegalovirus, human herpesvirus 8, and treponema pallidum. |
