The Effects of Weight Loss and Weight Loss Maintenance on Endogenous Sex Hormones in Overweight and Obese Postmenopausal Women who are participants in the Weight Loss Maintenance Trial (WLM) includes postmenopausal women participants who are not taking hormone replacement. The primary aims are of the study are to test the hypothesis that sex hormone concentrations will change with weight loss and that sex hormone concentrations will not change if weight loss is maintained. The WLM an existing multicenter, extramural, National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) funded study presently in the field. The participating institutions for the project include the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research in Portland, OR, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore MD, Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA, and Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. |
